"awakening your hidden talents"
The beautiful lady pictured to the right is a recent addition to the roster, Hope Portenier. Hope's personal credits include winning numerous Kansas State Voice Contests, performing and traveling with the KCDA and KMEA Kansas Honor Choirs and Swing Choirs, JCCC Chamber Choir, selected for special performances at Carnegie Arts Center, Riverfront Community Center, a special pride of singing for our troops at Ft Leavenworth and the Veterans Center in Leavenworth, Kansas. Hope trained for many years with voice lessons from the best voice teachers available from Kansas University and many others before coming to me.
She recently signed with Heart Land Records and is being produced and under my personal management team. We are currently producing a 15 song album for Hope with the songs being co-written with myself and Joyce Anne Hope (no relation) of New Jersey. Joyce has a background in pop and jazz. Her husband was a classical baritone with the Met. This has a mellow country pop flavor and will be out sometime later this year.
Of course, my true love is producing and helping new talent whether it be with voice lessons or vocal coaching, songwriter lessons, helping songwriters, lyricists, singers or a combination of all. I've worked as a professional in this business for some 50+ years now and I now use my private recording studio to produce singers, coach singers and teach singers "how to find their own unique voice"! I cannot stress how important finding a voice that separates you from the others is probably the most important factor in becoming an artist!!!
As a songwriter I've had a fair amount of success with over 100 cuts, won numerous national awards, worked with some of the top writers in our business and I generally love the craft of songwriting. Teaching others the craft of songwriting, from a beginning "idea or hook" or a simple melodic line, or a poem and taking that into a completed professional composition and then hearing those efforts recorded gives a satisfaction to ones self that is beyond compare.
I've been teaching songwriting for over 25 years and I love helping others find the tools and learn the craft of creating lyrics, melodies or both. It is a craft and a "learned craft".
Whether you play an instrument or not doesn't really matter. You'd probably be surprised to find there's just as many musicians that play guitar or keyboards great but can't write lyrics. So teaming lyric writers and musicians together is adding gas to the car engine. The gas does no good sitting in the tank and the car can't go anywhere without the gas but add one to the other and we go somewhere.
I will also review your existing material (either as a singer or writer) and whether it's been recorded or not. As a publisher, I'm always looking for new material for our artists or to help shop to other artists. And of course, I'm always searching for new talent.
If you've always wanted to sing and need voice lessons or just need to improve your singing with voice lessons, wanted to become a songwriter with songwriting lessons, write songs like the professional songwriters do, turn your lyrics and words into songs or if you're already a songwriter and have songs and need them recorded, I can help!!! From teaching singers to sing better, voice lessons for the beginner to the pro, songwriter lessons and recording demo services to career advice, I'm here to help.
AND as the owner of Heart Land Records, I'm always on the lookout for new Singers and Songwriters to discover!!!
A brief overview of what I offer:
AND ALL without spending a fortune
and as the tired tv commercial says says, "but wait there's more....." actually a lot more as hundreds of singers, songwriters and lyricists will attest to.... everyday brings a new challenge for you as you move to become professional songwriters and singers or you need to better your career. You can take advantage of my umpteen years of experience to coach your performance, take voice lessons, songwriter lessons and produce your voice, your songs, your lyrics and help you take your talent to a professional level......
My inspiration for teaching comes from many years of producing singers and songwriters in the studio. As a record producer I've been giving voice lessons and songwriter lessons for over 30 years now. I've also had over 100 of my personal songs released and published through the years. I've worked with about every imaginable style of music and talent from basic beginner to many well known performers, singers and songwriters.
There are a lot of voice lessons offered to singers by very good "technical" singers and teachers, but professional singers quickly learn they need to learn how to effectively communicate a song to the audience and that's how professional singers and artists stand apart from the rest. Your audience really doesn't care how technically correct you sound!!! Your audience is looking for entertainment and something that they can connect with!
Every session is tailored to meet your individual needs.....
I also provide production services to produce those Singers needing audition CD's for competitions or backup and Songwriters needing a professional production of their material to present to publishers. These are produced mainly in my private recording studio with professional musicians and singers depending upon the size of a project. What you as an individual need depends upon your goals and knowledge with regards to music, singing and songwriting skills.

A few tips most often overlooked by everyone
You must understand the song you're singing and learn to look at it from a "songwriter's perspective" to effectively deliver the "message" to your audience. It's so very important to understand the lyric and how the melody interacts with it to be able to give a great performance. Singers must become an actor or actress and portray the role of the character, situation and/or rhythm of the song.
***********************
Most all singers can sing the melody and lyrics but only an artist knows how to
effectively portray all the emotion into the delivery of the lyric and melody to "sell the song" to their audience and set themselves apart from the rest.
****************
Are you in the category of good singers or great singers?
*******************
Do your fans say, "I like how you sound just like Taylor or Keith or Christina....?"
or does your audience say.....
"I just love how YOU sing that song,
it really moves me when you do it!!!"
